Pablo Sandoval Returns to Giants Camp

Pablo Sandoval, the 37-year-old former San Francisco Giants player, will be making a comeback to the team's camp as a non-roster invitee, according to NBC Sports Bay Area. Sandoval, affectionately known as 'Kung Fu Panda' during his time with the Giants, is returning to a familiar spot.

During his 14-year major league career, Sandoval played for the Giants in two different stints. He was a key contributor to the team's World Series victories in 2010, 2012, and 2014. In fact, he was named the World Series MVP in 2012 after an impressive performance against the Detroit Tigers, hitting .500 with three home runs and four RBIs in a four-game sweep.

After his initial tenure with the Giants, Sandoval signed a lucrative five-year, $95 million contract with the Boston Red Sox in 2014. However, he was released by the Red Sox after just three seasons. Sandoval then rejoined the Giants in 2017 before being released again in 2020. The two-time All-Star's last appearance in the majors was in 2021 with the Atlanta Braves.

Recent Past and Future Plans

In 2021, Sandoval played in 69 games for the Atlanta Braves, but struggled at the plate with a .178 batting average and four home runs. He also had a brief stint playing in Mexico. However, his baseball journey did not end there. In October, he was drafted by Baseball United, becoming part of the first professional baseball league in the Middle East and South Asia. Now, Sandoval has the opportunity to reestablish himself with the Giants and showcase his skills once again.
