Young’s Motorsports to Add Full-Time Xfinity Team in 2024
Young's Motorsports, known for its NASCAR Truck and ARCA series entries, has announced that it will be adding a full-time Xfinity team to its roster this year. The team is set to expand its racing operations and compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series on a full-time basis.
The team has chosen Leland Honeyman Jr. as its driver for the No. 42 car. Honeyman, who previously competed in the ARCA East series with Young's in 2022, finished third in the overall series standings. He will kick off the 2024 Xfinity season at the season opener on February 17th at Daytona International Speedway.
In his ARCA East starts in 2022, the 18-year-old driver had an impressive record, with three top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes out of seven races. His best finish was a second-place position at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.
Positive Progress in Xfinity Series
Leland Honeyman Jr. has already competed in eight Xfinity Series races, and his best finish so far was 21st place at the Charlotte Roval last season. This will be his opportunity to continue growing and improving as a driver in the series.
Team principal Tyler Young expressed his excitement about the team's decision to expand into the Xfinity Series and praised Honeyman's performance in the past, saying, 'Leland ran the East series for us in 2022, and he did a great job learning, giving feedback, and being competitive against several other established East programs. His efforts in the Xfinity Series this season show he’s continuing to improve and make the most of every opportunity he is a part of.'
Honeyman is also excited about the upcoming season, stating, 'I’m confident about our collective potential for the upcoming season. The prospect of racing full-time in Xfinity adds an extra layer of excitement, and I can't wait to contribute to our team’s journey and make our mark on the track.'
Young's Motorsports' Racing History
Young’s Motorsports has been a prominent name in the racing scene since its establishment in 2009. The team has participated in 472 Truck Series starts, securing two victories. Since 2021, they have also competed in 26 races across the ARCA series platforms.
In the 2023 season, Young's fielded multiple Truck entries with various drivers, including Spencer Boyd, Kaden Honeycutt, Kris Wright, and Greg Van Alst. The team has shown great versatility and a commitment to nurturing young talent.
