Corey Kluber, a two-time American League Cy Young Award winner, took to social media to announce his retirement from Major League Baseball. The 37-year-old pitcher concludes a remarkable 13-season journey in the MLB.

Kluber won his first Cy Young Award in 2014 while playing for the Cleveland Guardians. He finished that season with an 18-9 record and a 2.44 ERA. He went on to win the prestigious award again in 2017, posting an 18-4 record and a 2.25 ERA.

Throughout his career, Kluber compiled a 116-77 record with a 3.44 ERA in 271 games, almost all of which were as a starter. He expressed his deep gratitude for the support he received from various individuals and entities during his MLB journey.

Kluber's Recent Seasons

In his most recent seasons, Kluber pitched for several teams. In 2021, he played for the New York Yankees and had a record of 5-3 with a 3.83 ERA in 16 starts. Notably, he threw a no-hitter in a 2-0 victory against the Texas Rangers.

Kluber joined the Boston Red Sox in 2023 but struggled, going 3-6 with a 7.04 ERA in 15 games. His one-year contract included a club option for 2024, but the Red Sox decided not to exercise it. Prior to his stint with the Red Sox, he played for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2022 and had a 10-10 record with a 4.34 ERA in 31 starts.
