NBA Player Miles Bridges Denied Access to Canada Due to Past Legal Problems
Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges was denied entrance to Canada due to his past legal problems, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, and missed Monday night's game against the Toronto Raptors.
Reason for Denial
Miles Bridges, who pleaded no contest to a felony charge of injuring a child's parent, was denied access to Canada on Sunday. The Hornets ruled him out of the game before tipoff, stating that he was not with the team.
Hornets coach Steve Clifford declined to comment on the reason for Bridges' absence when speaking to reporters pregame.
Legal Issues and Probation
Bridges is currently serving three years of probation after pleading no contest in a domestic violence case in June 2022. He was accused of assaulting the mother of his two children. As part of his probation, Bridges must adhere to a 10-year criminal protection order, undergo weekly narcotics and marijuana testing, and pay restitution.
Bridges also turned himself in on Oct. 13 for an arrest warrant related to an alleged protection order violation. The case is still pending.
NBA Suspension and Performance
Following his legal issues, Bridges was suspended by the NBA for the first 10 games of this season. Since his return from suspension, he has been averaging 19.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in 12 starts.
Bridges' absence from the game against the Raptors highlights the ongoing impact of his past legal problems on his professional career.
