Optimism for Ben Simmons' Return

According to sources, there is growing optimism that Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons could make his return to the lineup on Monday against the Utah Jazz. Simmons has been sidelined for almost 2½ months due to a back injury.

He is expected to practice with the Long Island G League affiliate over the weekend and, assuming no setbacks, could be back on the court on Monday.

Simmons has played only six games this season for the Nets, averaging a career-low 6.5 points and a career-high 10.8 rebounds.

Simmons' History and Current Situation

Simmons, 27, joined the Nets after a trade deadline deal in 2022, but did not play in the 2021-22 season. Last season, he played 42 games for the Nets, averaging 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists.

Despite his past success as a three-time All-Star, two-time All-Defensive first-team player, and Rookie of the Year with the Philadelphia 76ers, Simmons has yet to regain his former stature.

With the Nets struggling recently and sitting in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 17-26, the team could greatly benefit from Simmons' return.
